Henrys Chair

About the Chairmaker
Five years ago David made a unique comfortable child’s rocking chair for his grandson Henry & then another three years later for his granddaughter Georgia. It is styled on an early 19th century lambing chair. Having generated a lot of admiration from these chairs he has decided to make them to order.
About Wood
Wood is a superb natural material & has its own patterns in the grain which makes it an ideal material for making furniture. Being a natural material, in extreme fluctuations of temperature & humidity it may develop slight shakes, so furniture needs to be well cared for & well nourished & will then stay beautiful & last for many years.
About Henry’s Chair
The dimensions of the sitting area of the chairs are approx: 10 ½” deep x 12 ½” wide narrowing to 10 ½” at the back. They are suitable for children aged around 18 months to around 6 years old. They can be finished with a natural beeswax polish or a stained beeswax polish.
David at present makes the chairs in the choice of two types of wood:-
OAK is a hardwood, very strong & durable & traditionally used in furniture making.
PINE, which is a softwood, also widely used in furniture making, still durable, ‘knotty’ but a less expensive wood.
